Starting Position
1. Set the barbell on the Smith machine at chest height.
2. Place a bench under the barbell and lie down.
3. Grip the barbell with your hands closer than shoulder-width apart.
4. Firmly plant your feet on the ground.
During the Exercise
1. Slowly lower the barbell towards your chest.
2. Stop just before it touches your chest, then press the barbell up by extending your elbows.
3. Do not fully extend your elbows; keep tension in your chest muscles.
Breathing Tips
Inhale as you lower the barbell, and exhale as you press it up.
